Contra Costa County Youth Day, an outstanding success!
The Fourth Annual Youth Summit, took place this year at Oakley's Freedom High School, and was hosted by the City of Oakley Park and Recreation Department.
The Contra Costa County Youth Summit initially was established as a city-wide event during Supervisor Federal Glover’s term as Pittsburg City Councilmember, then he expanded it to the youth throughout District V.
Held on April 26th, the Youth Summit continues to lure High School, Middle School and even Elementary School participants from all over the Contra Costa County District V area for the most inspirational exciting workshops in Creative Movement, Career Development, Life Skills, and more.
Workshop Sessions included subjects from “Acing the College Interview” to “How to get a JOB” teaching strategies for locking down employment, from completing the application through the interview process. Other workshops included “CPR Training,” “ 7 Steps to Manhood,” and even “How to Buy a Car.”
The lunch hour followed the first to session with a lively group of talented entertainers such as a KMEL Live DJ, Dance Teams, Cheerleaders, and Sumo Wrestlers. Other attractions included a Jumpee, Airbrush Tattoos, and free give-a-ways.
Afterwards, participants engaged in more sessions, from 3 on 3 Basketball , to Girls Assertiveness Training, to Improv/Drama Games.
To end off the fun-filled day, raffle winners were announced and all participants were thanked for participating in the Youth Summit.
